Arcadia Management Area
"Over 60 years ago, what is now known as the Arcadia Management Area (AMA) was devastated by a spark. Many residents of Rhode Island, including members of TU225, risked their lives for days to contain this fire until Mother Nature offered a helping hand in the form of rain to quell the blaze. The Wood River Restoration Project created the foundation for the recreational theme in the AMA, a theme that extends to kayakers/canoeists, anglers of all styles, hunters, and hikers. This history, including the catastrophe, the actions taken to contain the devastation, and the work over the past 60+ years to restore the forests, the watersheds, the fish habitat, the paths, and the ecology, should help make each member of the Narragansett Chapter proud of our accomplishments here in the Wood River watershed."
